The winners of the 2019 BORN Series for designers have been announced at a gathering of top global talent in Los Angeles.

The awards, covering technology, fashion, interiors, sports leisure, retail experience and architecture, were presented by Prof Gerry McGovern, Land Rover Chief Creative Officer, at the Spring Place members’ club in Beverly Hills.

The six global winners are all undisputed champions in their fields. They were narrowed down from 192 nominees, beginning with a pool of 7,000 candidates.

All six winners showcased their designs at the event, along with the six category runners-up and three special prize winners. The event was organised by BORN – a platform for brands and retailers to get inspired, get connected, and grow their businesses – with partner Land Rover.

For us at Land Rover, design is at our very core. For this year’s winners I was looking for compelling designs that emotionally connect. For me, modern, relevant and desirable are the key ingredients in any good contemporary product.

LAND ROVER AND BORN CELEBRATE WORLD’S TOP DESIGNERS IN LA

Land Rover is a knowledge partner of BORN, with which it shares a quest to deliver the best in quality and craftsmanship of design, as well as a belief that exceptional creations can shape the way we look at the world and change the way we live.

The theme of the 2018-19 BORN Series was ‘desire’, reflecting the emotional connection between customers and the New Range Rover Evoque. A design tour de force that sets new standards in refinement, sustainability and capability, Evoque is on sale now.

BORN has announced an expanded programme for next year that will include a ‘Los Angeles 2020 BORN Design-Led Lifestyle Week’ in October.

At the very foundation of BORN is the connection of creators who make beautiful products with the people who love them. The BORN Series will continue to bring together the world’s visionary design leaders and retailers to share in workshops, conversations and, as always, a much-deserved celebration. We look forward to carrying this spirit into 2020, BORN’s tenth anniversary, and beyond.

Jean-Christophe Chopin
BORN founder and CEO

The first Design-Led Lifestyle Week in LA will centre on the theme of ‘wellbeing’ to celebrate the positive and impactful role of choosing products for their desirability, functionality and integrity.
