CHRIS THORP
CHIEF OF STAFF
Chris Thorp was appointed JLR’s Chief of Staff in June 2021 and reports directly to the Chief Executive.
As Chief of Staff, Chris is responsible for enhancing business performance and reputation through active leadership of corporate activities, bringing together several key areas including internal and external corporate communications and reputation management, government affairs, royal and diplomatic affairs, and the executive business office. He also leads JLR’s motorsport activities as the Chair of JLR Motorsport and Director of Jaguar TCS Racing Limited.
Chris joined JLR as a Global PR Communications Senior Manager in 2014, before later taking on the position of Responsible Business Director, followed by the role of Corporate Affairs Director.
Prior to joining JLR, Chris led the development of Nissan’s European PR content strategy across 23 markets, using experience gained while working as a director at automotive media communications consultancy Newspress.
In the early days of his career, Chris was a journalist on UK weekly motoring magazine Auto Express, where he launched the publication’s first commercial website.
When not at work, Chris is busy with his young family, enjoying life in the Midlands having grown up in Shropshire. He is a keen runner and has recently completed his first TCS London Marathon.
