Land Rover will have a wide‑spread presence at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Land Rover highlights include:

  • Celebration of Journey of Discovery
    • The Land Rover stand will be a recreation of a JLR manufacturing facility celebrating automotive manufacturing in the UK and commemorating the production of the 1,000,000th Land Rover Discovery at the company's Solihull plant.
    • The stand will focus on The Journey of Discovery; the 10,000 mile, 50 day expedition from Birmingham to Beijing that was completed by the 1,000,000th vehicle.
    • The culmination of Land Rover's Journey of Discovery with the handover of the £1m cheque presented by Mark Cameron, Global Land Rover Brand Experience Director, to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
    • Cheque handover will take place at 11am on Friday at the Land Rover stand.
    • Land Rover Experience in action on the Ultra Dek, Land Rover's off‑road demonstration course with customer rides available in the Discovery 4.                
    • Build your own Discovery: Land Rover will be handing out pop‑up and make your own mini Discovery kits for visitors to create their own Journey of Discovery and post their experiences on to the Land Rover Facebook page.
  • Race2Recovery ‑ sponsored by Land Rover
    • Following the recent announcement of Land Rover's sponsorship of Race2Recovery's Dakar Rally 2013 attempt, the Race2Recovery team will be on hand for interviews.
    • Race2Recovery will be exhibiting and showing Goodwood visitors how to change a wheel in sand in the F1 paddock.
  • Bowler ‑ Powered by Land Rover
    • Following the recent announcement of a strategic partnership between Land Rover and Bowler, the rally raid motorsport specialists, Powered by Land Rover branded Bowlers will be on display.
    • Bowler will also be thrashing its Range Rover sport‑based EXR rally raid car on the Bowler off road loop. Passenger rides will be available to media.

  • Launched in 1989, the Discovery has been manufactured for the past 23 years
  • Discovery has picked up more than 200 awards around the world
  • Last year 45,000 units were sold across 170 worldwide markets
  • Stands as an excellent example of UK design, engineering and manufacturing
  • 83 per cent of production is exported out of the UK
  • Success of Discovery alongside other Land Rover models has resulted in the company employing around 6,000 people following a recruitment drive launched six months ago, boosting the workforce by 20% to support its expansion plans
