Shane Horgan gives his post‑match thoughts after the Pumas stunned the Millennium Stadium with a comfortable victory against the Irish. The Irish legend looks ahead to the all‑southern hemisphere Semi Finals.
Former Irish centre Horgan, who won 65 caps for Ireland, saw the Irish fall 0‑17 behind in the first quarter and despite getting within three points early in the second half, eventually lose 20‑ 43 in the Welsh capital.
A pragmatic Horgan commented,
"There was a period there in the second half when they were just three points down and we didn't get our kicking game right, we played a little bit too deep and allowed Argentina to get that crucial score."
"Physically they looked bigger than Ireland, they looked stronger and they dominated us in that opening twenty minutes."
And of Ireland again failing to make a Rugby World Cup semi‑final,
"It's a big thing, it's a credibility thing as well for everyone involved in Irish Rugby, I've been involved for years as and never managed to do it myself getting past the quarter final stage I think until we get beyond that we are not with the big boys in the southern hemisphere."
