Whitley, Coventry, 19 May 2015. The Range Rover Sport SVR has been awarded the coveted Autocar Star Award at the publication's annual ceremony at the Hurlingham Club, London.

The Star Award is reserved for an elite set of cars that achieved an overall five‑star rating in the Autocar's in‑depth road test over the preceding 12 months. The Range Rover Sport SVR was just one of only three cars to get a maximum five‑star review in what is widely regarded as one of the most thorough examinations that any car can undergo.

John Edwards, Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations, said: "Obtaining a full five‑star verdict in Autocar is a fantastic achievement and one which we are extremely proud of. Receiving such an award from one of the most experienced road testing teams in the industry independently endorses the SVR's outstanding dynamics, pace and overall capability.

"This award is made all the more special by the fact that the Range Rover Sport SVR is the very first product to emanate from the SVO division and it's a fantastic achievement for the team."

From the UK road test of the Range Rover Sport SVR, Autocar stated: "No rival better mixes handling prowess, off‑road talent and an SUV sense of functional plushness. But more importantly, none comes close to capturing the perfect savagery and lewd sense of fun it keeps so amply on tap."

The Range Rover Sport SVR represents the pinnacle of performance for Land Rover. Power comes from a 550hp 5.0‑litre supercharged V8 and is capable of accelerating from 0‑62mph in just 4.5 seconds and onto an electronically limited top speed of 162mph.

Complementing the performance‑orientated Range Sport SVR, is the new Range Rover SVAutobiography ‑ also produced by the Special Vehicle Operations division ‑ and recently revealed at the New York Motor show as the ultimate expression of luxury, design specification and craftsmanship.
