The Range Rover Evoque Says Hello L.A.

17 November 2010

Trendy West Hollywood hotspot Cecconi's played host to a smattering of influential city insiders on Tuesday night (Nov 16, 2010), as Range Rover wowed the crowd with the launch of the new 5‑Door Evoque, the smallest, lightest and most fuel‑efficient vehicle to date. While a vibrant Firenze red model and an awe‑inspiring wireframe installation drew stares from the crowd outside, a select group of recently‑dubbed ‘City Shapers' including musicians, OK Go; singer, Solange Knowles; fashion journalist and TV presenter, Louise Roe and actor, Miles Fisher mixed and mingled with the crowd inside—and spoke about the luxury brand.

"It feels really good to be associated with a brand like Range Rover because I feel like I'm really in my element at the moment. Things are coming to me in good ways and I'm just trying to filter my life in that direction," shared Knowles, who posed by the Range Rover Evoque, looking every bit the part of a stylish scenester in an oversize anorak jacket, silk mini dress and purple crush velvet platform sandals. "I think it was in the stars for me tonight…I was picked up in a Range Rover in my dream color: red. I love how it looks pitch black at first glance and then transcends to a different color entirely."

Perched inside the restaurant, Roe kept a low profile amongst close friends and nibbled on the passed appetizers, including savory bites of tuna tartare, sliders and Cecconi's signature pizza breads, while reflecting on her recent flurry of exciting life changes. "I've only been in L.A. for two years and just wrapped my own makeover show, so it's an esteemed honor to be named a City Shaper for Range Rover now. As a Brit, the brand conjures up memories of Wellington boots and country rides with rocky terrain for me, but here in L.A., it's entirely different. It's just that chic car that everyone has…and you feel very safe in it, which is important because drivers in this town are crazy!" laughed the fashion TV personality. "My dream Range Rover Evoque would be Fugi White with a tan interior…not that I've been thinking about it too much or anything!" she said with a wink.

Rubbing elbows with guests including Amy Smart, Cassie Scerbo, Ben Hollingsworth, Sara Paxton and more, while keeping a watchful eye on the Evoque out front, Fisher couldn't help but declare his genuine excitement for the new model and his involvement with the ‘Pulse of the City' program. "Los Angeles is a city that thinks in the future tense…it's about tomorrow and new energy and excitement. The Range Rover Evoque belongs in this city! It's the first car that is mine and truly fits everything in my life…my friends, my luggage, my need for media and staying connected to the world. It doesn't fight with the elements of my life, it complements it," the actor added thoughtfully.

As for his take on the jam‑packed party? "Seriously, this is one of the only parties I've ever been to where the bar and the incredibly delicious food inside are a mere second to the beautiful displays outside. It's tough to even get a look at the car because everyone's swarming around it!"
