LAND ROVER PARTNERS WITH TELLURIDE SKI & GOLF RESORT
21 February 2011
Right now there’s a 51‑inch base, Little Maude and Nellie have both been groomed, and the skiing is fabulous, writes Finbar McFall, VP of Marketing for Land Rover North America.
And when your quads are on fire after skiing the 4.6‑mile‑long Galloping Goose run, the Crazy Elk has an après‑ski special that’s the best. Life doesn’t get much better.
I love Telluride. With 300 inches of snow a year and 300 days of sunshine, what’s not to love? It’s probably the same reason Tom Cruise has a home here, and Ralph Lauren built his Double RL Ranch just north of town in nearby Ridgway.
The love I have for the area really began last year when we did a media drive in our 2010 Range Rover and LR4 models from Telluride across the soaring and, frankly rather intimidating, Imogene Trail to Ouray, Colo.
So for me, it was a natural that Land Rover North America should form a strategic partnership with the folks at Telluride Ski and Golf Resort.
It means that anyone visiting Telluride will see plenty of Land Rover and Range Rover vehicles on display in and around the town. In addition, visitors will get the chance to try‑out our vehicles during a series of Land Rover Ride & Drive weekends.
Our first Ride & Drive event took place this past weekend where skiers and boarders were given the choice to get behind the wheel of our 2011 model‑year Range Rover, Range Rover Sport or Land Rover LR4 vehicles. We’ll follow‑up with Ride & Drive weekends on March 4‑6 and March 18‑20.
For me, the Telluride lifestyle is just a perfect fit for Land Rover. See a new Range Rover Sport parked outside the legendary Sheridan Opera House, the venue for the annual Telluride Film Festival, with skis and snowboards on its roof rack and a ski‑suited family climbing out, and it looks so perfectly at home.
Me? I can’t wait to get back and try my hand at The Plunge, or Buzz’s Glade, or The Dynamo. Knowing that the ‘snow’ setting on my Range Rover vehicle’s Terrain Response® system will get me back to my condo gives me that little extra peace of mind at the end of a great ski day.
