JAGUAR LAND ROVER GOES TO THE BALL

The St. George’s Society has been aiding British and Commonwealth citizens in the New York area since the year 1770. On Tuesday night (May 28), Jaguar Land Rover helped support the Society and its valuable work by sponsoring its annual fundraiser, the English Ball, in Manhattan.

Jaguar Land Rover’s newest, built-in-Britain models, the all-new 2013 Range Rover and the sensational 2014 Jaguar F-TYPE, were on display outside the venue at 583 Park Avenue and garnered attention from guests at the English Ball, as well as onlookers passing by.

Honorees for the night included Sir Winfried Bischoff, Chairman of Lloyds Banking Group and Simon Fuller, Founder of XIX Entertainment and Creator of American Idol. The reverse auction raised nearly $37,000 for the St. George’s Society and the top bidders for the night received an experience from Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC. to attend one of Jaguar’s Performance Driving Academies or one of Land Rover’s Experience Driving Schools in the U.S. Proceeds from the reverse auction and the tickets to attend last night’s Ball totaled over $400,000 for the St. George’s Society.

“For over 240 years the St. George’s Society has been doing truly remarkable work in helping thousands of needy people of British and Commonwealth heritage living in the New York area, said Andy Goss, President, Jaguar Land Rover North America. “As a local company with deep roots in the UK, we felt it important to contribute to the Society’s on-going efforts.” The St. George’s Society is the largest British charity in North America with its annual English Ball being the society’s biggest fund-raising event. The Society uses proceeds raised from their charity events to provide assistance on two levels; a Beneficiary Program which helps the elderly and disabled and a Scholarship Program at New York’s Lehman College to assist gifted students with university tuition.

“The Society receives no government funding whatsoever. All the money raised from the English Ball goes directly to the social care and financial well-being of those British and Commonwealth New Yorkers in need of assistance. It’s a great cause which we at Jaguar Land Rover are enthusiastic to support,” added Goss.
