(MAHWAH, N.J.) ‑ June 9, 2015 ‑ Land Rover North America returns to Great Meadow this year as the title sponsor of the Great Meadow International, a three‑day, CIC3* equestrian Eventing competition in The Plains, Virginia, June 19‑21, 2015.  The Land Rover Great Meadow International weekend‑long competition also serves as the final preparatory event for the U.S. Eventing Team prior to the 2015 Pan American Games which will take place in Toronto, Canada, this July.

"The Land Rover Great Meadows International event, in the heart of the Virginia Equestrian community, will spotlight the country's best eventing horse and rider combinations as they prepare to represent the U.S. in the upcoming Pan American games," said Kim McCullough, Vice President of Marketing, Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC. "Land Rover is proud to continue our support of the eventing team and our United States Equestrian Federation partners. This year we will offer test drives of all our models including the brand new Discovery Sport on a specially designed off‑ road demonstration course. We know it will be an exciting and fun weekend for all the competitors and spectators."

The Great Meadow venue hosts numerous equestrian events and, is considered hallowed ground by many in the racing world. Land Rover is sponsoring what is essentially a triathlon of horse sport where the same horse and rider competes in three separate disciplines over three days: Dressage, Show Jumping, and Cross Country.

Beyond enjoying Equestrian events, spectators can test drive Land Rover's full model lineup, including the all‑new 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport, on a specially designed off‑road demonstration course with a trained driving instructor as co‑pilot. As the first member of the Land Rover Discovery Family, the 2015 Discovery Sport is a versatile premium compact SUV with a dynamic design and a compact footprint providing seven‑passenger seating in an available "5+2" configuration. The vehicle will deliver performance, and efficiency through a body shell of high‑strength steel and lightweight aluminum, a 240hp turbocharged 2.0‑liter engine, nine‑speed automatic transmission and standard all‑wheel drive.  Also available for test drive are the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover LR4.

The weekend will offer several entertainment and shopping opportunities for guests such as a 'Sip & Shop' event featuring local Virginia vineyards and a GMI Vendor Village that includes a variety of national and local shopping partners.  The Dressage and Show Jumping action takes place in the Great Meadow International arena Friday and Saturday evening, followed by daytime tailgating during the Cross Country phase on Sunday, where 80 percent of the cross‑country course can be viewed from one vantage point.

"As the permanent home of the prestigious Virginia Gold Cup steeplechase, and some 40 other events drawing more that 200,000 through our gates each year, we are proud now to bring high performance Eventing to our calendar, too," said Robert L. Banner, Jr., President of the Great Meadow Foundation. "What better partner than the finest high performance off road vehicle in the World, Land Rover?  We have recently purchased 174 adjoining acres and dedicated the new land specifically to this purpose. Come see our incredibly beautiful event park from behind the wheel of an amazing Land Rover!"

About The Great Meadow Foundation

Great Meadow was founded through the vision of news executive and philanthropist Arthur W. (Nick) Arundel in 1982. Arundel purchased an abandoned farm then slated to become a housing development for perpetual preservation of open space. The concept for Great Meadow grew out of several converging forces of the 1980's, primarily urban growth pressure on farmland near Washington, the opening of I‑66 and the simultaneous loss of the former Virginia Gold Cup course in Warrenton to subdivision development. Since their inception they have been the permanent home for the Virginia Gold Cup and Family 4th of July celebrations. Over the years they have added several more community events, ranging from Twilight Polo to the Virginia State Cross Country Tournaments. For more information, please visit: www.greatmeadow.org.
