(MILL SPRING, NC) – August 30, 2016 – Land Rover North America announced today its partnership with the 2016 Nutrena USEA American Eventing Championships (AEC), to be held at the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) from August 31st to September 4th, 2016.
Land Rover North America is a longstanding supporter of equestrian sport with their involvement spanning over two decades and continuing to expand into new events across the United States.
Kim McCullough, Vice President of Marketing, Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC said, “We are really excited to be part of this Championship event especially as it recognizes and awards the best in the nation in the respective levels right from Beginner Novice through to the Advanced Division. It is important to support not only our top athletes but also those who are moving up the ranks and this event really captures that. The stunning facilities in the foothills of North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountain range provide the perfect environment to showcase the capability and design of our vehicles.”
Created as a stepping stone for amateurs to get a taste of competing at the top level and experience the world‑class facilities that come with it, the Championship provides the perfect environment for developing the next generation of equestrian athletes. The event matches perfectly with Land Rover North America’s long‑term partnership with the U.S. Eventing Team. The outstanding facilities of the TIEC, comprising of 10 all‑weather rings, a covered arena, 850 stalls and an onsite sports complex, will create an experience and atmosphere that rivals that of a global competition.
Away from the top‑class equestrian competition, the Land Rover experiences will be an attractive feature of the event. Spectators will be given the opportunity to test drive the newest range of Land Rover vehicles on a specifically designed off‑road demonstration course. Not forgetting the younger members in attendance, Land Rover is also providing a fleet of electric powered replicas of the iconic Land Rover models for children aged four to ten, to drive on a miniature off‑road course.
USEA Board Member Doug Payne spoke of this year’s event, "We have visited the TIEC regularly since its opening week, and it is quickly becoming a premier equestrian hub in North America. From the record entries it is clear that the new location plus having Land Rover North America on board, who have helped the sport to grow in the U.S. with their valuable support, will make this year’s event bigger than ever. Together we will raise the bar for Eventing, and hosting the AEC at Tryon will positively impact all competitions across the country.”
The Nutrena USEA American Eventing Championships, previously held at the Texas Rose Horse Park in Tyler, Texas, offers horse and rider combinations of all ages and levels the chance to compete in the only National Championships of its kind. Competitors from across the nation will descend upon the impressive Tryon International Equestrian Center vying for the chance to claim victory at the renowned and prestigious event.
Renowned cross‑country course designer of Great Britain’s four‑star Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials, Captain Mark Phillips, has developed a variety of championship‑caliber cross‑country courses for all the levels of competition. Spectators will be treated to a diverse range of fences which will stretch the competitors to their full ability and produce some thrilling rounds.
Alongside the Land Rover lineup, on display at the TIEC will be the all‑new 2017 Jaguar F‑PACE, the brand's first‑ever performance SUV and the 2017 Jaguar XE compact sports sedan.
