(MAHWAH, N.J.) – March 4, 2019 – Land Rover is expanding its Ingenium engine family with the introduction of a new mild-hybrid (MHEV) inline six-cylinder gasoline engine designed and engineered in-house, and manufactured at its £1 billion Engine Manufacturing Center (EMC) in Wolverhampton, UK.

The 3.0L inline six-cylinder engine, which will debut on the 2019 Range Rover Sport, is available in 355HP and 395HP outputs, badged P360 and P400 respectively. With torque capabilities of up to 365 lb-ft (P360) and 406 lb-ft (P400) the inline six is more responsive and better balanced than the outgoing V6 gasoline engine.

In the U.S., the new P360 engine will be available on 2019 Range Rover Sport SE and HSE trim levels; the P400 engine is available exclusively in the HST trim. The 2019 Range Rover Sport SE, HSE and HST models are available to order now at www.landroverusa.com.

The new engine features an electric supercharger which supplements a twin scroll turbocharger; working in conjunction with Continuous Variable Valve Lift, the new engine delivers immediate throttle response, increased power and can breathe with maximum efficiency.

The integrated electric supercharger, a first for Jaguar Land Rover, is able to spool fully in just 0.5 second at up to 120,000rpm via a direct connection with the throttle – increasing boost and reducing turbo lag. Together, these advanced features help the new six-cylinder engine deliver optimal performance – all with customary Range Rover poise and refinement.

Combined with MHEV technology, this set-up is designed to help optimize the performance of the Range Rover Sport. The clever MHEV system harvests energy through regenerative braking, and stores it in a 48v battery for later use such as when pulling away from a standing start.  In addition it allows for an enhanced Start-Stop system that can maintain an engine off condition longer without compromising passenger comfort.

Designed for enhanced performance, refinement and responsiveness, the 395HP version of the inline six powertrain is reserved for the Range Rover Sport HST model. With 406 lb-ft. of torque, it powers the model from 0-60mph in 5.9 seconds (0-100km/h in 6.2 seconds) and to a top speed of 140mph (225km/h)2.

The HST features a unique combination of interior and exterior updates including bespoke badging and optional carbon fiber trim on the hood vents, front grille, side vents and tailgate.

Customers will have a choice of two black alloy wheel designs and five exterior colors – Santorini Black, Fuji White, Indus Silver, Firenze Red and Carpathian Grey. The HST will be identified by red brake calipers, with a grey anodized option also available.

Inside, the 16-way front seats feature an updated colorway with suedecloth detailing on the seat bolsters, steering wheel and gear lever, Satin Chrome gear shift paddles and an HST badged fascia.  Owners will also benefit from capability features now available on all models, such as Terrain Response® 23 and a Twin-Speed Transfer Box.

The 2019 Range Rover Sport including the HST model is available now starting at $68,5001, and can be configured at www.landroverusa.com.
