(MAHWAH, NJ) – April 17, 2019 – Last night ahead of the 2019 New York International Auto Show, Jaguar Land Rover North America celebrated the grand re‑opening of the Jaguar Land Rover Manhattan retailer and the launch of the next‑generation Range Rover Evoque. The action‑packed event also kicked off the “Live for the City” marketing campaign for the Range Rover Evoque and included previews of the newly redesigned 2020 Jaguar XE and Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition, both making their North American debuts during the auto show.
World‑renowned Canadian tennis player Milos Raonic partied to music from local groups Lohai the Band, a soul / pop duo known for their jazz spirits and thoughtful lyrics, and Lawrence the Band, a brother‑sister pair leading an eight‑piece soul‑pop band. The brand partnered with Francesa Canepa, the creative mind behind luxury fashion label Port Zienna, to showcase her work in a COOL HUNTING film featured as part of the “Live for the City” campaign and outfit all Jaguar event staff for the evening.
In line with the Range Rover Evoque’s cutting‑edge technology features, the event included an interactive gadget lab for guests, sourced by experts at WIRED magazine. Featured products included the Sony Aibo, Meural, Sony HT‑Z9F sound bar, Weatherman umbrella, Sony 65” Master Series TV, Samsung Smart Mirror, Nanoleaf, Looking Glass, XYZ 3D Printer, Ubtech Cruzr, Ubtech Lynx, and an IBM BB‑8 demo. Also on display was the new Zenith Defy Classic Range Rover Evoque, a limited‑edition timepiece co‑developed by design and technical engineering teams from both brands.
In addition, the event showcased custom MW07 Wireless Earphones Land Rover created in partnership with premium audio company Master & Dynamic. Each pair is made from handcrafted acetate inspired by the launch colors of the new Range Rover Evoque, featuring a unique grille pattern in copper and silver accents, and will be offered with early reservations of the new Range Rover Evoque.
The “Live for the City” campaign is a new global, multi‑platform, integrated marketing campaign, including TVC, social and digital content, out of home activations and brand partnerships with a focus on key urban markets. To celebrate the launch in New York City, Land Rover worked with COOL HUNTING to create a custom film and suite of assets with photographers and creative couple Joe and Maggie Greer, featuring the Range Rover Evoque as well as other local New York artists, which were shown for the first time at the event. The NYC assets – along with those captured in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Chicago – will be available at evoque.coolhunting.com, and later this month on www.LandRoverUSA.com.
“When the original Range Rover Evoque debuted, it proved that a smaller vehicle could be both luxurious and capable, and we’re excited to be launching the next‑generation of this vehicle,” said Kim McCullough, Vice President, Marketing, Jaguar Land Rover North America. “With an all‑new design language, ground‑breaking technologies and an electrified powertrain option, the new Range Rover Evoque will raise the bar even higher in the luxury compact SUV segment.”
Also showcased at the event were the newly redesigned 2020 Jaguar XE and the 2020 Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition, both of which are making North American debuts at the 2019 New York Auto Show.
The new 2020 Jaguar XE sports sedan features an enhanced exterior design and all‑new luxurious interior. Expanding upon the beautiful proportions of the original design, the sporting intent of the new 2020 Jaguar XE has been taken up a level, with contemporary design cues inspired by the Jaguar F‑TYPE sportscar. The Jaguar XE appears wider and lower than before, with larger front apertures, a bold design and a muscularity that alludes to the car’s performance and advanced aerodynamics. The 2020 Jaguar XE is priced from $39,9001.
The limited‑edition 2020 Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition is the most powerful and luxurious variant in the Velar model range. Designed and developed by Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations, the new Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition extends the model’s reputation for performance and segment leading luxury with the addition of a much more powerful drivetrain and enhanced interior/exterior design detailing.
