• Participants challenged to create outdoor party fit for
royalty
(MAHWAH, NJ.) April 19, 2012 ‑ Land Rover North America
(LRNA), returning for its third year as the Official Vehicle for
the Rolex Kentucky Three‑Day Event, Presented by Bridgestone, today
announced the "Land Rover Tailgate Challenge." On Saturday, April
28th, Cross‑Country day of the event, Land Rover will offer an
extensive prize package to the best‑decorated, best‑catered and
most creative Land Rover or Range Rover tailgate party. The
four‑day‑long equestrian event will be held at the Kentucky Horse
Park, Lexington, KY, and is open to the public from Thursday, April
26th through Sunday, April 29th.
The term "tailgate party" conjures up thoughts of packed
parking lots filled with hot dogs and potato chips. But for Land
Rover, tailgating takes on a new meaning, with champagne toasts and
elegant spreads as the world's finest horses compete in Kentucky.
At this event, Land Rover intends to turn the humble tailgate into
an outdoor party fit for royalty.
"We at Land Rover pride ourselves on having the world's most
capable vehicles," said Kim McCullough, Brand Vice President, Land
Rover North America. "When you think of the world's most remote
places, you think of a Land Rover getting you there and back. When
you think of the world's most luxurious places, you picture
arriving in a Range Rover. So when you think of an event with the
world's most talented horses and riders, a luxury tailgate party
seems the perfect way to celebrate."
The winner of the Ultimate Tailgate Challenge will be
awarded two 2013 Rolex Kentucky Sponsor Pavilion Hospitality
tickets, two reserved grandstand seats for the Event, a premium
tailgate space and the use of a Land Rover for the weekend. All to
make the 2013 Rolex Kentucky Three‑Day Event an event to remember.
Entry in the Challenge requires the purchase of an official event
tailgate spot, and participants must be ready to show‑off their
finest fineries no later than 9:00 am on Saturday. The tailgate
area is located adjacent to the Cross‑Country course, allowing
attendees to get up close and personal as the horses and riders
gallop over four miles of the Kentucky Horse Park's
terrain.
Judges for the Tailgate Challenge will include a member of
the Equestrian Events Inc, (EEI) team ‑ ‑ the event organizer, and
a Land Rover representative. Participants will be judged equally on
the tailgate presentation, the creativity and thought put behind
the set up and how the food is integrated into the setting.
Tailgate spots on the Cross Country course are sold out for this
year's Event. Information on how to purchase spots for next year
will be available on the event website at www.rkde.org/ or email
tickets@rk3de.org.
In addition to the Challenge, Land Rover will allow event
attendees an opportunity to test all of Land Rover's vehicles,
including the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Land Rover LR4, and
the all‑new Range Rover Evoque. With a trained and experienced
veteran driving instructor as co‑pilot, participants can drive on a
purpose‑built off‑road course that highlights the vehicles'
extraordinary capabilities and demonstrates why we believe Land
Rover reigns in the upper echelon of on‑ and off‑road performance.
The ride‑and‑drive is open during the four days of competition and
is located onsite at the Park, at the junction of Nina Bonnie and
Marks Lane and the Main Rolex Stadium ‑adjacent to the
Cross‑Country Course.
The 2012 Rolex Kentucky Three‑Day Event, the Western
Hemisphere's only Four Star Three‑Day Event, features the 15th

$350,000 Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing. This year's event is a
qualifying competition for Eventing athletes vying for a spot on
the 2012 London Olympic Team.
The Ariat Kentucky Reining Cup is held alongside the Rolex
Kentucky Three‑Day Event on Friday and Saturday evenings, April
27‑28th, and features the world's best reining riders including all
four members of the Gold Medal team from the 2010 Alltech FEI World
Equestrian Games held at the Kentucky Horse Park. Four‑time Grammy
