EXTERIOR DESIGN
Designed to blend city living with country escapism, the 2021 Range Rover Evoque builds on the original’s enduring characterful appeal with a purposeful and precise evolution of its instantly recognizable silhouette.
The enduring profile of the Evoque is typified by its distinctive fast roofline and rising beltline. The SUV’s elegant proportions are amplified by its pronounced shoulders and powerful wheel arches that, alongside available 21‑inch wheels, combine to create a strong and dynamic attitude.
The super‑slim Premium LED headlights, standard across the Evoque model range, provides a sophisticated front and rear lamp graphic, while flush door handles add to the smooth, sculpted aesthetic.
Stretching across the rear of the vehicle is a striking black accent that creates a sense of visual width, while the precise reduction of exterior panel gaps demonstrates the level of craftsmanship Land Rover designers and engineers have achieved.
“Customers love the compact proportions of Evoque so we have kept the overall dimensions very similar to the original, but we have lengthened the wheelbase to make Evoque more practical without compromising its overall stance,” said Massimo Frascella, Creative Director, Land Rover.
“Our approach has optimized the proportions to elevate the new Evoque’s unique personality. The new Evoque is a true Range Rover, highly sophisticated with a unique and striking presence,” Frascella continued.
For 2021, Evoque customers can choose from new personalization options, including new Portofino Blue and Lantau Bronze exterior paint colors, and available 18‑inch Five Split‑Spoke ‘Style 5074’ Gloss Black wheels.
INTERIOR DESIGN
The Range Rover Evoque delivers new levels of refinement and luxury to the cabin with a revolutionary approach to the interior. With its unique blend of uncluttered surfaces and contemporary materials, this compact luxury SUV embodies the Range Rover DNA.
“The chic interior of the new Evoque affords a greater sense of space, where refined finishes and the latest technology are seamlessly integrated into the design,” said Alan Sheppard, Director, Interior Design, Land Rover. “Our goal was to maintain Evoque’s enviable position at the leading edge of contemporary design and we truly believe we have achieved this.”
There is more rear leg and knee room for occupants thanks to the 0.8‑inch longer wheelbase, introduced for 2020 model year, while also providing more foot space thanks to new seat mounting points. The luxury cabin has a greater focus on usability and intuitive technologies. The striking available dual touchscreens and capacitive switches of the new Pivi Pro infotainment system are the focal point. The beautiful clean design neatly integrates touchscreen technology with simple‑to‑use rotary dials2.
“We placed a great deal of focus on the creation of refined, sumptuous interior and exterior color and material details,” said Amy Frascella, Director, Color and Materials, Land Rover. “New materials designed and developed to offer different technical attributes alongside a more modern look and feel combine to offer more contemporary options for one of our most progressive vehicles yet.”
The cabin of the Range Rover Evoque is even more refined for 2021, with a new elegant three‑spoke, multi‑function steering wheel with capacitive switches, as well as enhanced first row seating with Lumbar Support and Satin Chrome Seat Switch Controls– offered standard on all trims. The interior can be further elevated with new available Satin Chrome Gearshift Paddles and Premium Upgrade Interior Pack, which features: Premium Carpet Mats, Illuminated Treadplates with Range Rover Script, Ebony Suedecloth Headliner, Bright Metal Pedals and Premium Cabin Lighting.
PIVI PRO INFOTAINMENT
Inspired by the latest mobile devices, the 2021 Range Rover Evoque now employs state‑of‑the‑art consumer technology to deliver its new Pivi Pro infotainment system, fitted standard across the Evoque model range7.
The system is underpinned by a new Electrical Vehicle Architecture first introduced on the New Land Rover Defender. The architecture comprises 85 ECUs to support the next‑generation of driver assistance and customer convenience systems. Featuring two embedded Qualcomm LTE modems – one dedicated to the Software‑Over‑The‑Air (SOTA) technology and another looking after music streaming and apps – the new electrical architecture is designed for seamless connectivity and a quick startup time, so customers don’t need to wait for the system to load before performing actions such as entering navigation details. The system also has high performance Snapdragon processors and an advanced QNX operating system for a responsive and intuitive experience7.
“Infotainment in the Range Rover Evoque has been transformed with the introduction of our new electric vehicle architecture and Pivi infotainment,” said Alex Heslop, Director of Electrical Engineering, Jaguar Land Rover. “The new hardware and software means Evoque is more digitally connected than ever. Our customers can now benefit from a system as responsive and easy to use as a smartphone, which actually improves over time, thanks to Software‑Over‑The‑Air updates7.”
New for 2021, SOTA updates help ensure Evoque owners have the latest maps, apps and vehicle features. The vehicle automatically searches for software updates and when a new download is available, the owner is notified via the vehicle’s touchscreen. The installation starts once the vehicle is stopped, locked, alarmed and all windows are closed, with the installation time showing on a pop‑up notification. Customers can also schedule software updates up to 14 days in advance, at a time that suits them. Currently, multiple modules can be updated wirelessly. These span telematics, infotainment and vehicle control systems, improving the performance of core software to help ensure the vehicle is operating at the latest level. A single software update can target multiple vehicle systems7.
Pivi Pro can also personalize the driver’s experience based on habits and preferences learned over time. The new navigation system uses self‑learning algorithms to optimize routing, while the Smart Voice Guidance even knows to remain quiet when the driver is travelling on regular routes, to minimize interruptions. Smart Settings allows users to set a profile, storing personal vehicle settings such as seat position and heat preferences, mirror position and media settings2. The vehicle will identify who is driving the car through the key fob and connected smartphone, learning and automating their preferences over time, so the vehicle is tailored to the driver as soon as they open the door and sit down.
The 2021 Range Rover Evoque features a new optional wireless device charging pad within the storage area behind the available lower touch screen. Wireless charging includes signal boosting, designed to help the phone’s signal remains stronger for longer. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ featured standard, as is Bluetooth® technology which can pair two phones at the same time, so the driver and passenger can both connect their smartphones to the system2.
Evoque customers can also specify a new second‑generation Activity Key for heightened convenience. The water resistant wrist‑worn device now incorporates an LCD watch. It conveniently allows owners to unlock any door, lock or even start the vehicle just by being nearby – with no need for a conventional key fob within the SUV on any journey.
ADVANCED CABIN AIR FILTRATION
Evoque customers can also benefit from the all‑new Advanced Cabin Air Filtration system (PM2.5 filter), available as an option for the first time and complementing the existing optional Cabin Air Ionization technology that was introduced for 2020 model year.
When switched on via the Purify button within the vehicle touchscreen2, the system is designed to help reduce the number of cabin allergens and fine particulates down to and below 2.5 microns in size. Customers can also enable automatic activation of Purify mode. In this instance, when the sensors detect an increase in allergens or particulates, the system will turn on automatically.
Available Cabin Air Ionization is designed to help further enhance the air quality within the vehicle. The system uses Nanoe™ technology to condense moisture from cabin air, breaking it into tiny electrically charged particles that react with air contaminants, to help neutralize odors, bacteria and allergens.
ADVANCED DRIVER ASSISTANCE FEATURES
Other technology updates include an expanded suite of available Advanced Driver Assistance features. The new Rear Collision Monitor uses radar to constantly monitor the rear of the vehicle, while the introduction of a standard 3D Surround Camera provides a view of what’s happening around the vehicle at speeds of up to 19mph4,6.
These new systems complement the available ClearSight Ground View4 and ClearSight Rear View Mirror4,5 technologies introduced in the Range Rover Evoque for 2020 model year; smart camera technology stitches together images below the front of the vehicle, while the latter provides an interchangeable rear view mirror and video screen, for enhanced visibility.
